The challenge

What if the phone wasn’t just a screen, but part of the controller? Space Cat was conceived as a mobile game where physical gestures would drive the character: a particular tap on the back of the phone to jump, and a tilt to change direction. The challenge was to give that unusual interaction an equally memorable little hero.

02 /
The approach

The character work moved from an untextured base mesh to a finished astronaut cat, with a compact silhouette, expressive eyes and a tail that gives movement personality. Alongside the visual development, the control concept connected real-world taps and tilts to on-screen motion… exploring a more physical kind of play, rather than another set of virtual buttons.

03 /
The outcome

A character-led mobile game concept, documented through modeling studies, a textured turnaround and animation. Space Cat captures a question we like asking in the lab: can changing how we interact make a familiar idea feel new? This is a development study, not a released game.
